This adapter is used as a COMx serial interface and connects fiber interfaces to a PC or laptop. This is usable for all PC baud rates up to 40 kBaud. Its case can be installed on a top-hat rail.
A virtual COM interface is created in the PC. All serial data are sent directly to the fiber optic cable. The COM interface can be used together with the driver on MS Windows without limitations.
No modem control signals are supported. DTR, CTS, DSR, DCD have no effect. Only XON / XOFF protocols created in the driver or application-specific protocols can be used for flow control.
