The RadioExtender231 V4.0.2 is an affordable radio module based on the 2.4 GHz radio transceiver circuit AT86RF231
[
datasheet].
Using this module in combination with the
Atmel STK500-Board and the
Atmel STK600-Board the quick and easy starting, programming and evaluation of the transceiver AT86RF231 is possible. The used AT86RF231 possesses extended hardware functions - e.g. 128 bit AES engine and separate frame start interrupt opposite to AT86RF230. Thereby it is ideally suitable for radio solutions according to standard IEEE 802.15.4 and for ZigBee
TM- and ISM applications, which require extended security functions.
The Radio ExtenderREB231 V4.0.2 is connected directly to the
Atmel STK500-Board using a 40 pin plug and using the REB to STK600 adapter to the
Atmel STK600-Board .
This transceiver supports many ATMEL microcontrollers such as ATmega2561, ATmega2560, ATmega1281, ATmega1280, ATmega644, ATmega324 and ATmega164.
The module's transmitting power can be adjusted to a maximum of 3dBm and its receiver sensitivity is -100 dBm, with a data rate of 250 kBps. The module's range depends on which antenna is being used. Supply voltage ranges from 1.8 to 3.6 V, and power consumption is approximately 14 mA in sending and receiving mode and less than 1 µA in standby. The transmitter's power use can be checked by attaching a measuring device.
The Radio Extender has a SMA connector to attach an antenna.
Components:
Antenna 2.4 GHz
Accessories:
REB to STK600 Adapter
REB to SAM7EK Adapter
