MST32 CNT is a universal 8 channel counter module. It measures impulses, frequencies, period length as well as low and high impulse times.
The measuring interval and type of measurement can be configured for each channel, whereas channel 7 can also be used as a synchronization in- or output. Multiple MST32 CNTs can be externally synchronized using this channel.
The MST32 counter module can be operated using the MST32-PROFIBUS DPV0 slave (MST32 PBS). It is configured using the PROFIBUS with programming telegrams and is supported by GSD data. One PROFIBUS slave can support up to seven MST32 counter modules because process data of up to 244 Bytes is supported on one MST32 PBS.
The cycle time is dictated by the number and type of the MST32 modules integrated in a particular system. Between 200 and 250 µs are required for the complete process image for the MST32 counter module, meaning that up to four MST32 CNT modules can be used with one MST32 PBS with a cycle time of one millisecond. A cycle time of two milliseconds can be expected with seven MST32 CNTs.
MST32 CNT modules can be combined at will with other modules from the MST32 series, such as: analog input, analog output, digital in-/output, and digital output.
Each input can process signals at the TTL level (unidirectional) or differential (RS485 level). The line connection of 120 Ohm is fixed to the module's measurement inputs and can be electrically switched in the synchronisation inputs.
All input channels are galvanically separated and have input filters.
