    deRFsamR21E

    The radio module series deRFsamR21E contains a powerful ATSAMR21E18 microcontroller with an integrated 2.4 GHz radio transceiver which supports the latest version 3.0 of radio protocol standard ZigBee. The 256 KB internal flash memory allows the usage of extensive program code like the ZigBee 3.0 firmware stack by Microchip. (Hint: This stack is only available at Microchip after registration) The onboard 4 MBit SPI DataFlash enables firmware updates over the air without any additional external components. The radio modules have a tiny weglassen footprint for SMD process in 50 mil / 1.27 mm grid.

    Versions

    dresden elektronik offers two radio module variants which differs in their RF output:

    • deRFsamR21E-23S00:
      The onboard chip ceramic antenna allows for easy integration of the module into the application without special RF knowledge and therefore time of implementation and BOM cost may to be reduced.
    • deRFsamR21E-23S20:
      The onboard u.FL coaxial connector is suitable for external antenna applications. A coaxial connector pigtail from u.FL to e.g. SMA is furthermore necessary, depending on the application. The available RF-pad can be used to enable customized  RF-designs like external front-end implementation or antenna diversity.
